Hardware ID & Licensing Policy

Last updated: November 8, 2026. The Bundle has no accounts and no passwords. Instead, a license belongs to your purchase code, and each code works on 2 PCs. The Hardware ID is how a PC introduces itself. This page explains exactly what it is - the short version: it is made of hashes, and the raw details of your machine never leave your PC.

What the Hardware ID is

Inside the indicator (Properties → 01 - Purchase), five component identifiers - motherboard, processor, BIOS, disk drive, and the Windows installation - are each run through a one-way hash (SHA-256) on your PC, and only the first 8 characters of each hash are kept. Those five fragments, joined together, are your Hardware ID, shown like HW2-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX. A hash cannot be reversed into the original value, and no serial numbers, names, files, or personal data are part of it.

Why it exists

So one purchase honestly covers 2 PCs without accounts, passwords, or dongles - and so a code posted on a forum cannot unlock a hundred machines. Your first PC is bound by the Hardware ID you enter at checkout; a second PC binds itself the first time it activates with your code. A third PC is refused. The Hardware ID is used for licensing and support lookups only - never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to track you anywhere else.

What it exposes - honestly

Upgrades do not cost you your seat

The ID is deliberately forgiving: changing one or two components - a new drive, a BIOS update, even reinstalling Windows - still matches your existing seat, and the seat quietly updates itself. A full PC replacement is the only move that counts as a new machine.

Resets

Replacing a PC? Each seat includes one free reset per year on the seat reset page: you confirm the purchase code, the purchase email, and the old and new Hardware IDs, and the seat moves. A reset never changes your expiry date. Need more than the yearly reset? Contact support - a human reviews it.

The launch check

When an indicator with a purchase code starts, it sends the code and the full Hardware ID to the licensing server once. The server checks the purchase is active, unexpired, and not refunded, and that this PC holds a seat - then returns a signed pass, cached on the PC for up to 7 days so short outages or offline stretches never lock out a paying customer. A refunded, expired, or seat-less request is refused at launch. What data this involves is covered in the Privacy Policy.

The backup license key

Every purchase email also includes an offline backup key, minted for the PC whose Hardware ID was entered at checkout. It carries the same expiry as your purchase and works without the server - a rescue rope, not a second license: seats, resets, and refunds are governed by the purchase code.

Your control

You can ask support at any time what is stored against your purchase, and to delete it - write from the purchase email. Deleting the purchase record ends the license it proves.
